With over three decades dedicated to education, A. Russell Hughes has built a career defined by leadership, transformation, and an unwavering commitment to student success.

His journey spans roles as a classroom teacher, Dean of Students, Head Football Coach, Assistant Principal, and Principal at both middle and high school levels—culminating in his current role as the elected Superintendent of Schools for Walton County, Florida since 2016.

Under his leadership, Walton County School District has become one of the top-performing districts in the state, reflecting a culture rooted in accountability, vision, and execution.

As the founder of Hughes EPIC Solutions, he brings his real- world leadership experience to stages, workshops, and consulting environments across the country. His work centers on helping educators, leaders, and organizations unlock transformation through a clear and actionable framework built on Excellence, Professionalism, Innovation, and Collaboration (EPIC).
